Pierre Perifel works his magic as the director of the animation hit The Bad Guys. A story about a group of friends whose friendship is tested while planning their biggest heist.
The Synopsis
Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys—dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf (Academy Award® winner Sam Rockwell, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake (Marc Maron, “GLOW”), chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson, “Hot Tub Time Machine” franchise), short-fused “muscle” Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos, “In the Heights”) and sharp-tongued expert hacker Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina, “Crazy Rich Asians”), aka “Webs.”

The French filmmaker Pierre Perifel found his appreciation for animation while in high school. While attending Gobelins, Gobelins, l’École de l’image he made his first and second short student films, A Swell Plan and Festival Qualité and did Le Building as his thesis film. Since then he has participated in major animated films like Kung Fu Panda 2, Rise of the Guardians and Bilby.

I was connected with Pierre Perifel for the release of the digital/Blu-ray release of The Bad Guys. Perifel discussed what attracted him to this story and how as a director he can put a little bit about himself in a character he relies on. In addition to what it’s like to direct animation and if he will one day do live directing.
