Pixar And Disney Unveil Record-Breaking Inside Out 2 Trailer, Introducing New Emotion

In a groundbreaking reveal on Thursday, Disney and Pixar treated fans to the first glimpse of the much-anticipated Inside Out 2, setting off a wave of excitement across the entertainment sphere.

The unveiling of the sequel to the 2015 blockbuster marked a historic moment as it became Disney’s most significant animated trailer launch to date. The trailer, delving back into the mind of the now-teenage Riley as her emotions grapple with newfound feelings, amassed an impressive 157 million views within the first 24 hours, surpassing the previous record set by 2019’s Frozen 2.

Pete Docter, Chief Creative Officer of Pixar, expressed his enthusiasm for the overwhelming response, stating, “We are thrilled so many people have tuned in to check out the new trailer for Inside Out 2.” Reflecting on the original film, he noted, “When the first film came out, we knew that by telling a story where we could see our emotions—those little voices inside your head—there would be so much more to explore than we could possibly fit into one film.”

Director Kelsey Mann and the team were praised by Docter for their exceptional work on Inside Out 2, expanding the world and introducing new emotions that promise to captivate audiences. “We’re very anxious for audiences to discover,” he added.

The trailer’s popularity extended to social media, particularly on TikTok, where it garnered a staggering 78 million views in just one day. This success follows Disney’s recent collaboration with TikTok to create a first-of-its-kind content hub, coinciding with Disney’s 100th anniversary.

A key highlight contributing to the widespread excitement for Inside Out 2 is the introduction of a brand-new emotion—Anxiety. Voiced by Maya Hawke, this frazzled yet lovable orange emotion joins the stellar cast, which includes Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust.

Expressing gratitude for the positive reception, Docter remarked, “We couldn’t be more grateful to see the kind of response the trailer has received so far.” He extended thanks to the viewers and eagerly anticipated the film’s theatrical release on June 14, 2024.

As the countdown begins, fans can anticipate a cinematic journey that promises to delve even deeper into the complexities of emotions and the human psyche. Inside Out 2 is poised to be a summer blockbuster, offering a compelling continuation of the beloved original narrative.
