Many fans have spent this week reeling from the season premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead on Sunday. Using the usual tools- Memes, GIFs, and Reaction Videos- social media has been dominated by folks reacting to the two big deaths from that episode. I’ll spare you the spoilers, on the off-chance you haven’t seen the show yet, but needless to say that longtime fans are in a state of mourning.
This sort of passionate response is common amongst the Walking Dead faithful, and it’s something that fans of the zombie show have in common with the folks who follow HBO’s Game of Thrones. Both series, when you really think about it, have elevated the stakes for TV dramas across the board. Both shows have made it so that fans can never fully rest easy, since a beloved character can be slaughtered at any moment.
With that in mind, we here at LRM wanted to know which show- The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones– you think has been the hardest on their fan base?

Let us know what you think! And do you think the bodycount on these shows is getting too high? I think there should be a support group for actors from both shows who have had their runs come to an untimely end. At the rate we’re going, you’re going to need a convention center to house them all.
Some critics have noted that the frequency with which shows like The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones kill off major characters has become something of a crutch for TV writers. Need something exciting to pop the ratings, or to fuel the chatter surrounding your show? Kill off a character!
