Port Authority Trailer Tells A Tale of Romance with a Trans

Port Authority movie is a different romantic drama for a boy meets girl.

From executive producer Martin Scorsese, Port Authority generated a lot of buzz from Cannes Film Festival back in 2019. The film currently sits at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is not too shabby.

One of the biggest strengths of the film is with actress, model, and trans activist Leyna Bloom, who gives quite a mesmerizing performance in the film. She became the first trans woman of color to lead a feature film at the Cannes Film Festival. As a model, she’ll be the first black/Asian trans woman featured in the upcoming annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and the first openly trans woman of color to appear in Vogue India. Her next appearance on screen will be in the third and final season of FX’s Pose.

Fionn Whitehead and McCaul Lombardi also star in the movie. Danielle Lessovitz directed and wrote the film.

Here’s the official synopsis:

After getting kicked out of his home in central Pennsylvania, Paul (Whitehead) arrives at New York City’s dizzying Central Station with nowhere to go. A momentary encounter with Wye (Bloom), a trans woman of color, leads him to seek her out. Transfixed by her beauty and confidence, a love soon blossoms. But as the two learn more about each other, Paul’s false narratives begin to surface and the double life he lives must be reconciled.

There’s not a lot of trans stories out there and Port Authority looks intriguing as a romantic film. It brings out the romanticism of falling in love with a trans by entering their world and their community.

Port Authority is in theaters on May 28 followed by a digital and On Demand release on June 1.
