The Witcher hasn’t even premiered its first episode to the public and already there is talk of another sort of spin off. This time we’re talking about an animated adaptation coming our way. It hasn’t been confirmed but here’s what we are hearing from Redanian Intelligence; the watering hole for all new information pertaining to The Witcher. They scooped an interesting piece of news that comes this way through an interview Tomek Baginski did with IGN Poland. Tomek Baginski is the Executive Producer on Netflix’s The Witcher. Here’s an excerpt from the interview.

“IGN: You have the biggest experience in the field of animation. Would you like to see The Witcher in this style, too?

Baginski: “I don’t want to give away too much here, but who knows if we won’t see The Witcher in this style. However, these are things I would rather not talk about too much for now.”

So there’s nothing concrete, but that quote is certainly missing any denial from Baginski. It would seem that Netflix may be willing to exploit the property in as many ways possible in order to draw more people to its streaming service, especially with streaming wars in its early stages.

If this is true, I hope Netflix follows the sort of path they carved with the Warren Ellis scribed Castlevania which has caused many fans and creators to wonder just when the Emmy nominations will roll in as the series does feature standout storytelling and voice acting. That series is already working on its third season.

Netflix may want to assure that they are the home of all things The Witcher, or at least all things The Witcher that Netflix has the rights to adapt. If the recent restrained praise from critics is any indication, Netflix may have created something that will draw in some lost and unsatisfied fans of Game of Thrones who may be looking to fill that void for chain-mail, dragon battles, and destruction.
