It’s hard to believe that the first issue of Top Cow Production Inc.’s first issue of Postal first came out in the beginning of 2015. Now we are in the beginning of 2018 with the final issue that is out today at comic shops everywhere with issue #25.
Writer Bryan Edward Hill along with the artwork by Isaac Goodhart did a fantastic job at taking us into the off the grid town of Eden, where criminals go to disappear and live a “normal” life. Hill did a fantastic job at showing us the lives of Laura Shiffron the Mayor of Eden and her son Mark Shiffron who takes the role of the towns mail man. Both of them have had to deal with the ghost of Isaac Shiffron Laura’s husband and founder of Eden.
Since this piece is about the current issue, we aren’t going to get into everything that happened in between, for that be sure to pick up some of the great trades that are offered by Top Cow. But it was important to note those three characters because in issue #25 it all comes full circle.
With Isaac defeated, you would think that Laura would be able to find peace. But this issue begins with Hill showing us that although Isaac was part of her suffering, there was something much greater that haunts her. Revealing this secret to Mark could mean losing her son forever, but she needs to get it out in the open. Also, at the same time Maggie finds out that she is pregnant with Mark’s baby. A baby that she wants to keep and that Mark doesn’t. Secrets will be revealed an consequences must be paid in this last issue of Postal.
I won’t spoil the reveals as well as the outcome of the issue. All I can say is that it is a fair way to close out the series. It has been a great run that even included a crossover with The Tithe and Think Tank. But in the next two months are still going to get two one shots. One that focuses on Mark in February and the other that focuses on Laura in March. What will become of Mark and Maggie’s child? What became of Laura and Eden? There are so many questions that I hope the one shots will answer to give readers the closure that we need. Check out some of the preview pages from Top Cow below!
