It looks as if we are getting a new iteration of the Power Rangers lineup. This is in lieu of picking up on the 2017 films storyline. Fans who were holding out hope for a sequel to that film may be disappointed. Others may rejoice since the film was lackluster with a plot that revolved around a really gold Goldar and a final showdown at Krispy Kreme to save the world.

The news came from Dacre Montgomery who portrayed the Red Ranger Jason in the 2017 film. Montgomery was part of an AMA within the Stranger Things subreddit to celebrate the July 4 release of Stranger Things Season 3 on Netflix. He was asked whether there are any plans for a sequel to the Dean Israelite movie. Montgomery did not beat around the bush with an answer. A response from him simply states:

“I think there is a movie in the works but it’s not with me and the cast. So, yes but not with us.”

As of now, Hasbro has not made any noise regarding any future Power Rangers films. So anything is possible. It just doesn’t seem likely anyone at the studio is excited about footing the bill to create a sequel to a movie that made $142 million on a $100 million-dollar budget. There are several versions of the Rangers that have been on television and every fan probably has a preference to the team lineup. If I had to offer my two cents it would be to do a reboot, hire Zack Snyder to direct, and adapt the awesome Power Rangers comic Go Go Power Rangers.
