Predator: Badlands gets its first trailer and it's becoming obvious what big plot twist is in the film, in my opinion.

Predator: Badlands gets its first trailer and it’s becoming obvious what big plot twist is in the film, in my opinion. First off, before we get into the plot twist details, check out the trailer and poster.

Predator: Badlands is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who directed Prey, the last film form this ongoing franchise. The movie stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. The movie is set in the future on a distant planet. The Predator, an outcast, befriends Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a journey in search of the ultimate adversary.

Now, let’s talk about what to me is a pretty obvious plot twist in this film. I will drop it behind a potential spoiler tag in case you haven’t worked this out. I’ll also say, this is my opinion based on the evidence presented, not some leak.

Potential SPOILERS Below

Okay, my spidey sense first started tingling after an interview with Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez, who is currently developing a sequel. Alvarez was asked about Aliens vs Predator possibilities and he said he’d love to see it. But he also added he’d love to see either a Predator, or an Alien film where you don’t know the other guy shows up till you go to the theatres. A big surprise. My thoughts at the time were, marketing would mess it up.

Well, I think we are seeing that. Notice the trailer seems to show that Thia is a Weyland-Yutani android. Well, there’s the initial connection. Then we have comments from Fanning that she is not the one being chased this time and teams up with the Predator. I initially wondered if this would perhaps just mean Predator Vs Predator. However, with trailer and a few other little comments here and there, plus the general synopsis above…. Yeah, I think this is a secret Aliens Vs Predator movie folks and the ‘ultimate adversary’ is a Xenomorph. What else in that Universe, bar something new, could be a threat to a Yautja?

I could see why making the token human and android works in this context. We know Xeno’s tend to generally ignore androids for obvious reasons. Plus it should be able to keep up more with a Yautja.

Now, If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. However, I think it’s pretty obvious that this is how this movie is gonna go. Got to be honest, I’m probably watching this and I’ve not liked many Predator films outside the OG, which is a classic.

Predator: Badlands hits in theaters and IMAX November 7.

What do you think of the Predator: Badlands first trailer? Do you agree with me that the big plot twist is starting to seem a little obvious? Thoughts below.
