The latest Barside Buzz is that President Ross has benched Sam at the start of Captain America: Brave New World. The information comes from regular leaker CWGST, who has a decent hit rate for Marvel. The post below seems to suggest this is why Sam, hasn’t showed up anywhere since Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Sam being the protagonist to Ross’s antagonist always seemed like the way this movie would go. That being said, I doubt we could/would call the President of the United States a villain in the classical meaning. I’m sure the true villain will end up being The Leader, but who knows?

There is some animosity among Marvel fans about the gaps between stories. The fact the new Captain America has gone radio silent for the last two years and never been mentioned in any intervening projects. Perhaps this rumor if true is an attempt to show why we’ve not heard much from Cap? Thing is, It’s more symptomatic of Marvel introducing too many new characters at once.
I certainly don’t think there was a place for Sam to show up in Moon Knight, Multiverse of Madness, Guardians 3, etc. However, at the same time I should not be two years before we hear anything about what happened to the new Cap after his show.
It is also worth noting that all the leakers seems in unison on a few claims. One, that Ross will at some point become Red Hulk in this movie. Two, that Sam will not get any super serum, power boost in the movie. I guess we’ll see how accurate all of this is when the movie finally releases.
