Valkyrie And Sif Were Supposed To Become A Couple In Thor: Love And Thunder | Barside Buzz

According to one insider, Valkyrie and Sif were supposed to become a couple in Thor: Love and Thunder. Some recently released storyboards show Valkyrie saving Sif from a battle and taking her back to New Asgard. However, after this was released, MTTSH has come out to say the original plan was for these two to fall in love and rule Asgard together.

There was certainly a lot of material cut from Love and Thunder. The film sort felt that way, like it was just too large a story in conception to fit into a movie. I remember before the movie was filming even director Taika Waititi hinted at romance for Valkyrie. Yet, a Valkyrie romance just isn’t in the movie at all.

Then again, this was a movie that should have and did focus on Thor and Jane. I’m not sure we needed Valkyrie having a successful romance to balance against the tragedy of Jane’s situation. I am alone (seemingly), in the fact I kinda liked Love and Thunder. No one else seems to like it. For me, the movie felt like a tale told by Korg from his point of view rather than a reality of what happened. I’m not sure if Waititi intended that or not, but if so it didn’t work for the majority of fans. If he didn’t, well, I’ll have my own headcanon at least.

We seem sure to eventually get a Thor 5 at some point. When, and with what talent outside Hemsworth, who knows? Waititi has some ideas if he was asked back, but will Marvel like them. Equally, I’m not sure Waititi is available till like 2030 at this point.

What do you think of the rumor Valkyrie and Sif were supposed to become a couple in Thor: Love and Thunder? Thoughts below as always.
