Quentin Tarantino loves movies. Here’s what he really loved in the 2010s.
If you can believe it, we’re already well into the 2020s. And for those of you who plan on commenting “No, it doesn’t count — the 2020s don’t start until 2021,” save it. We’re counting 2020 as the 2020s. Deal with it. Also, I’m sure there are plenty of you who aren’t surprised at all how far into the year we are. With all that’s been going on, it may even feel like we should be well into 2025. But that’s beside the point. With the 2010s a fair distance behind us, we may be in a better place to discuss what the great films of the decade were.
With us being almost to June, we’re far away from the likes of Joker and Parasite, both of which made a splash at the Oscars. So, why not take the opportunity to ask a real film legend what he thinks the best movie is? Of course, I’m talking about Quentin Tarantino. The dude is a notorious film junkie, so if there’s someone worth hearing from on the matter it’s him.
“It’s The Social Network,” Tarantino told Premiere. “Hands down…It is number 1 because it’s the best, that’s all! It crushes all the competition.”

I can’t argue with Tarantino on this one. While I may not personally see The Social Network as the best film of the decade, I understand its appeal. It’s a well-told story, the dialogue is engaging, and the performances rock. But it’s a decade full of stiff competition. In addition to live-action movies, there were plenty of amazing animated ones to choose from. And as much as Hollywood loves to ignore the comic book fare out there, I cannot.
However, if I were put on the spot, I might turn to the fun and delightful whodunnit from last year, Knives Out. From its cinematography to its script, there was no aspect of the Rian Johnson joint that felt shortchanged. I’ve seen the film well over a dozen times at this point, and always walk away having gained at least one extra bit of insight.
