#ReleaseTheSnyderCut Fans Have Spammed HBO Max’s Twitter Feed

Justice League

If there is one fan base that simply won’t quit, it’s the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut fan base. I’m not fully convinced these were the same fans that defended Batman v Superman and Man of Steel, but regardless, they love their boy Zack Snyder. Ever since Justice League hit theaters back in 2017, they’ve been adamant that we’d missed out on a real opportunity. Somewhere between Batman v Superman and Justice League, Warner Bros. lost faith and took the reins from the filmmaker.

In all fairness to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut fans, the studio did definitely interfere. It’s evident based on how Justice League turned out  — with nothing from Batman v Superman wrapping up — that this was not Snyder’s vision. This has been hammered at in the years since. Snyder himself has gone off several times. He’s shared countless pieces of art as well as stories surrounding his original vision.

But would we actually get the Snyder Cut of Justice League? Fat chance. Don’t think that’ll stop #ReleaseTheSnyderCut faithful, though. As we reported yesterday, HBO Max has revealed its official May 27 release date. Fans saw this as their opportunity to strike.

If you click on the above tweet, you’ll be taken to the actual Twitter page. If you scroll down the replies, you’ll notice a funny trend. Pretty much all of the replies have fans urging HBO Max to #ReleasetheSnyderCut.

This isn’t a new movement. While the window for a theatrically-released Snyder Cut Justice League has long since passed, that hasn’t resulted in fans letting up. Months back, fans started pushing for HBO Max to act as the new home for the film. In this day and age, it makes sense. And, let’s be real, it would inject HBO Max with a batch of curious streamers, at the very least.

Personally, I find myself oddly hopeful. I started off this whole #ReleasetheSnyderCut situation being cynical as all hell. This is a tens of millions of dollars proposition we’re talking here. They’d need to hire someone to finish the VFX on all the footage. And that’s not even mentioning the marketing required to go into this bad boy. But if fans keep on pressing, someone at Warner Bros. has to cave eventually, right? Unlike many movements, this one has the support of Zack Snyder and a lot of on-screen talent.

Come on, HBO Max! What do you have to lose?
