*Sits down backwards on a chair.* So, you like commentaries. I know. I like them too. Growing up, they were my insight into the minds of filmmakers and storytellers. At the time, our only real way of understanding why they did the things they did, as online video interviews were way harder to come by at the time. They’re fun, they’re informative, and they enrich the soul. Wouldn’t it cool to have one for a film in-theater?
Yeah, I agree, it would be cool. And what about for one of the most entertaining features of the year? Well, writer-director Rian Johnson has you covered. The filmmaker is now offering a free download of a commentary, which he plugged on his Twitter account.

I’m thrilled to announce the #KnivesOut in-theater commentary! Yes, now you can enjoy another round of whodunnit goodness with me squawking in your ear. Did this on Bloom & Looper, happy to try it again. Audio file and instructions here: https://t.co/0VZ453YYs7 pic.twitter.com/Cc8DvgjyCb

He then followed up with some rules.
“SOME RULES! I recommend over the ear headphones so you don’t blow your ears out. And most important: once you start the track, keep your phone/ipod/whatever locked and IN YOUR POCKET! No glowing screens allowed. Thanks folks, this is kinda a crazy thing, lemme know how it works.”
Personally, I’m contemplating whether or not this is worth another trip to the theaters for — which I’m sure is exactly the hope. I’ve already seen it twice, and think it’s even better the second time around. Should I check it out a third with a commentary track?
