Another story on the post-Kennedy Star Wars franchise. Today Rian Johnson says he wasn’t spooked by negative fans and it seems Dave Filoni’s MandoVerse movie is on hold, plus some more.
Let’s begin with Rian Johnson. In her exit interview with Deadline, that we covered last week Kennedy talked about Rian Johnson. It was all praise, but she did say she thought perhaps Rian got spooked by the negative fan reaction to The Last Jedi.
However, Johnson has come out to say, he is absolutley not spooked.
lol zero spooked, sorry https://t.co/1gWREzKxAO

Does that mean Johnson will be jumping into that Star Wars trilogy now his Netflix deal has concluded? No, we have no idea and without Kennedy in place who knows if Johnson will ever be back in the GFFA? However, the negative reaction to The Last Jedi didn’t affect him he says.
Sadly, for Lucasfilm, Johnson’s The Last Jedi spooked filmgoers and it’s been downhill all the way since.

A newer THR piece had this to say about Filoni’s previously announced MandoVerse movie.
‘Formally announced projects like Filoni’s movie that would’ve seen characters from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and The Skeleton Crew deal with the threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), has been placed on the backburner. But Ahsoka is getting a second season, while Favreau has stated hope for a fourth season of Mandalorian.’
One film that hadn’t been mentioned by Kennedy was the Rey New Jedi Order film. I assumed this meant it was as dead as the Skywalker bloodline. However, THR seems to think differently.
‘Oddly, what hasn’t been mentioned by Kennedy recently is the Rey-led movie starring Daisy Ridley, tentatively titled New Jedi Order. The film, announced by Kennedy in 2023 and set to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, and will follow Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order. Filming had been expected to start last year, with a script penned by George Nolfi, but there’s been no movement yet.’
‘Of all the Star Wars projects in various states of development, this one seems like the safest bet.’
So, Rian Johnsons isn’t spooked and the MandoVerse movie from Dave Filoni is on hold. Leave any thoughts about this post-Kennedy Star Wars era.
