What’s happening with Rian Johnson and his Star Wars trilogy? Read on for an exclusive rumor!
Earlier this week we announced that Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie wouldn’t be releasing until 2024. That film will mark the first Star Wars movie following The Rise of Skywalker, but it won’t be the last. Ever since The Last Jedi hit, fans have wondered whether Rian Johnson’s announced Star Wars trilogy was in trouble.
Well, this news can be either good or bad news depending on your view of The Last Jedi…
From my source at Lucasfilm, the Rian Johnson Star Wars films are still on track and will be released after the Taika Waititi Star Wars film. Back in 2017, it was announced that Johnson would be writing a completely new Star Wars trilogy. It was after the release of The Last Jedi, fans and critics have become skeptical of Rian actually completing and seeing the trilogy come to the big screen.
Well, it has almost been three years since the release of The Last Jedi and Rian is still at work on this trilogy and doesn’t have to rush it either, according to my source. The pushback of the films will allow Johnson more time to flesh out the scripts.
Since The Last Jedi, Johnson went on to write and direct the critically acclaimed Knives Out. It was so well received that it warranted a sequel that he is currently working on and will be released before the Star Wars trilogy. Personally, I think that Rian will succeed coming up with his own original Star Wars story without being handicapped by a previous writer or director.

I know that I am in the minority, but I am hopeful of the new trilogy. Looking back at writing and directing The Last Jedi, Rian was in an impossible situation trying to continue someone else’s story. Make sure to check back for more Star Wars information that I am sure you will enjoy.
