Rob Liefeld Pulls Out Of Netflix Deal For Extreme Universe

Just under a year ago, we reported on the news that Rob Liefeld had signed a seven-figure deal with the streaming giant Netflix to bring his Extreme Universe characters to the small screen. The goal wasn’t to bring a bunch of series to life, but a bunch of universe of films — kind of a small screen Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it were.

While these characters weren’t exactly as popular as the normal Marvel/DC fare, given Netflix’s need to lock down some big I.P.s for their films, it seemed like a pretty solid match-up. The Extreme Universe are an existing I.P. with a mythology behind them and Netflix is a network without any big-name film properties outside of Bright. Sadly, it doesn’t look like it was meant to be.

According to Rob Liefeld himself, he has pulled out of the deal with Netflix and started shopping it elsewhere. Here’s what he had to say about it:

“I get questions about @netflix all the time. After being at an impasse this summer, I took Extreme elsewhere for a better deal and fit. There is no Netflix deal. More soon enough.”

No word yet as to whether or not he’s made a deal with another network, but as indicated by the end of the tweet, it sounds like we’ll be hearing more down the line. Are you sad to see him pull away from Netflix and do you think they will have any success at another network? Let me know your thoughts down below!
