The winds of change are blowing in Hollywood. Things that were once okay to say as recently as five years ago are now considered taboo, and some folks in the industry are having to pay for it. A couple months back, actress Roseanne Barr made a controversial tweet about Valerie Jarrett which resulted in the cancellation of the massively successful Roseanne revival, and just this past week, Gunn was fired from directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for some tweets he made years ago joking about pedophilia.
However, unlike Barr, Gunn has received a great deal of support from actors, talent in Hollywood, and many fans online. Noting a real double standard, Barr took to Twitter to complain about those who voiced their support:

“I’m disgusted to read all of the support for James Gunn’s pedophile jokes-as the same people supported blacklisting me for a joke they didn’t even understand.”
While it’s easy to see her point, there is a distinct difference between tweets made a decade ago to tweets made recently. In recent years, Gunn has shown himself to be of a solid character, and 10 years ago is very much a different time than today. That being said, on a personal note, I do think Barr was unfairly marked, as her tweet seemed very much pointed at Jarrett’s haircut more than anything else, and as such, I can see why this could lead to bitterness.
What do you think of this whole deal? Do you think Barr is right to be upset, and are those who support Gunn yet reject Barr actually hypocrites? Let us know your thoughts down below!
