RUMOR: Benicio Del Toro Circling Villain Role In James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad

While plenty of fans seem to have drawn lines between Marvel and DC, filmmakers and actors are clearly hopping back and forth between them with little regard for “sides.” Honestly, that’s the way it should be, and I’m all for the sharing of talent. After all, we all want to see good movies, and it really shouldn’t matter where they come from. It’s with that in mind that we look to James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad.

According to Forbes (via Empire), there is one other MCU and Jame Gunn alum that’s circling a role in the superhero film. The outlet states that Benicio del Toro is in talks to join in the role of The General. It’s currently unclear if the character will ultimately go by that name in the film, but he will reportedly be the main villain Task For X will be…tasked with taking on.

We already know that a good chunk of the original cast is returning from the first film, including Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, and Joel Kinnaman. Should del Toro sign on, he’ll be joining newcomers Idris Elba and John Cena.

Of course, del Toro is no stranger to genre stories. He not only worked on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but he worked alongside James Gunn in Guardians of the Galaxy as the Collector. Do you think he’ll be a good fit for the world of Suicide Squad? Let us know your thoughts down below!
