RUMOR: Black Widow Could Deal With Y2K Panic

Apparently, it’s Black Widow rumor day. Earlier, we reported on a potential synopsis for the in-development Marvel Studios film. In that synopsis, it hinted at us following Natasha Romanoff 15 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Now, we have a new rumor courtesy of MCU Cosmic that paints a different picture.

They are stating that the film could take place in 1999 and could deal with the panic surrounding the Y2K panic. Since the character was born in 1984, she will have been 16 around that time. This means she would not have been with S.H.I.E.L.D. yet, and will have been under the control of the Red Room.

Because a typical spy thriller may not fully appeal to mainstream audiences, the outlet stresses that they could bring another character into the mix, and the writer even stated they have heard word about a potential character, but they’ve opted not to share until they’re sure.

Sadly, those are the only semi-concrete details they give. They then go on to speculate that the story could revolve around the bug that didn’t happen…but that it didn’t happen because of Romanoff’s efforts to stop it. There is other potential speculation about maybe the Winter Soldier showing up (he did injure her, after all), but nothing very solid.

What do you think about this idea? Do you like it more than the rumored synopsis earlier today? Let us know down below!
