RUMOR: Black Widow To Get In Front Of Cameras At The End Of February

It’s been a long time coming, but it looks like Black Widow’s standalone movie is actually set to come incredibly soon. For months, we’ve been covering the increased momentum it has received, including the development process with Scarlett Johansson and director Cate Shortland coming on board. Now it sounds like they’re getting incredibly close to actually heading into production.

No joke. The folks over at The GWW are reporting that they have confirmed the film is set begin production on February 28, 2019. Yeah, that’s really soon. We knew this thing was getting some real momentum, but I never would have guessed it’d be this close to shooting, and the reason why will make sense in a bit.

As you may recall, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was set to begin production in the early part of 2019 — January or February. It was never confirmed, but the film was rumored to be hitting on the May 5, 2020 untitled Marvel Studios release date. With Black Widow supposedly beginning production next month, it’s not unfeasible that it could hit that May 5, 2020 release date, especially if it’s a film of a much smaller scale than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Personally, I think this is great news. As soon as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was pushed back, I assumed Marvel Studios would reduce the number of films coming out in 2020, but if this is true, it looks like even their bad luck wouldn’t keep them from releasing as many films as possible each year.
