I talked in a recent post about the bad timing of Sony’s Bloodshot starring Vin Diesel. The Valiant Entertainment property was supposed to hit theaters last month, but it was pushed back to March. What a different world we live in from February to March. The current pandemic has put an almost complete stop on the film industry.
Bloodshot was released on the weekend that a lot of places were being quarantined, leading to theaters to close their doors. Due to all of this madness, it ended up making a little over $10 million. So even though it had a reasonable budget of $42 million, it’s probably not going to be able to make a profit. Sony will try and make some of that up by releasing it on digital March 24th.

So going forward, what does the future hold for Bloodshot if any? Well according to sources close to We Got This Covered there is a rumor that Bloodshot may be rebooted.
According to them, Paramount is looking to acquire the rights to Bloodshot from Sony and build a Valiant cinematic universe. This would include the characters from Harbinger (which they already bought from Sony), Faith, X-O Manowar and others. The reason is that Paramount is desperate for a new franchise as it really only has Mission: Impossible, Transformers and G.I. Joe.
Diesel is said to want to return and reprise the role. But the studio may be looking for a younger actor for a fresh start. They seem to be looking for a soft reboot anyway, which they are trying to figure out behind the scenes.

The main reason why I share this rumor is for a selfish reason. As a Valiant fan, I desperately want a valiant cinematic universe. Although I love the characters individually, I feel that they work best when they interact with one another. The idea of having a Bloodshot film, followed by Harbinger and leading to Harbinger Wars was something Valiant fans would love to see.
I don’t care what studio makes it happen. Sony, Paramount, whatever just give us a Valiant cinematic universe! Would you like to see this happen?
