Rumor: Dave Bautista Is Being Eyed For A Star Wars Villain

It’s hard to make the jump from professional wrestling to serious actor. Hulk Hogan had several movies, but they were mostly cheesy. John Cena has been in a few, but again… cheesy. There is the one real success story with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, although his stint as the Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns and its spinoff by the same name made it seem he was destined for the cheese pot too. As we all know, this wasn’t the case and Johnson has become a go-to guy for serious movies and fun movies alike. Enter Drax the Des… I mean, Dave Bautista.

His time as Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers franchises have helped him rise above the unfair stigma given to wrestlers that go to Hollywood. He even has a fun looking buddy cop style movie hitting on the 12th of July called Stuber. Taking all this into account, it makes sense Disney would want to keep him in their pocket. That brings us to the rumor that Dave will be making the jump from the MCU to the Galaxy far, far away…

The rumor comes from sources close to We Got This Covered and it goes beyond Bautista joining the Star Wars franchise and tells us he’ll be playing a much beloved sith in a TV series. Who? None other than Darth Bane!

Bane was a popular Sith Lord from the old Expanded Universe but is technically canon because of an appearance during the cartoon Clone Wars show. Many fans have been hoping to see him in the sequel trilogy, even projecting him into being Snoke at one point. There is next to no information on the show, its release, or other castings, but the same source states it’ll follow Bane post Sith Wars. This will likely be him setting up the Rule of Two made famous by the Prequel Trilogy and EU books.

Not sure how I feel about this one folks. I was never a big Bane fan but I have been dying to see content from the distant past of the Star Wars universe. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for more news on this and other rumors around the future of Star Wars.
