RUMOR: Details on Tom Hardy’s Supposed Cameo in ‘STAR WARS EPISODE VIII’

These days it seems like we get half a million rumors for each blockbuster film that comes out. Some turn out to be true, and many more turn out to be false. Where this one falls is hard to say at this point, but the folks over at Making Star Wars certainly have a pretty good track record thus far, and now they’re confirming that actor Tom Hardy has a cameo role in STAR WARS EPISODE VIII.

Needless to say, if you don’t want to be spoiled on what that role is, do not continue reading.

SPOILER ALERT!

Making Star Wars revealed the following details about Tom Hardy’s role in the film.

  • “Tom Hardy plays a First Order stormtrooper.

  • Said stormtrooper glimpses FN-2187 (Finn) on a secret mission but doesn’t realize it.

  • The “incognito” FN-2187 is surprised when the stormtrooper walks up behind him and slaps him on the ass.

  • FN-2187 turns around and believes he’s dead. He’s surely going to be captured.

  • The stormtrooper is elated to see his old friend from back during their First Order academy days.

  • The stormtrooper congratulates FN-2187 on his promotion to Resistance infiltrator and spy.

  • FN-2187 is free to go about his business to his amazement.”

Last year’s STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS certainly also had its fair share of cameos. Included among those was the cameo from James Bond actor Daniel Craig, wherein he played a strict stormtrooper holding Rey captive. His scene was a memorable exchange between him and Rey, and was one of the standout comedic moments in the movie. If the rumor regarding Hardy’s own cameo in the film is true, this very much seems to be in the vein of Craig’s scene.

It’s also a wonder what this means in regards to Finn’s role in the First Order following THE FORCE AWAKENS. Does he actually go back for some reason, claiming to be a Resistance infiltrator, or is that simply the bad game of telephone going on within First Order circles? Making Star Wars speculates that perhaps Snoke, Hux, and Kylo Ren purposely lie about Finn’s betrayal so as not to encourage any other traitors in their midst.

What do you think of this potential cameo from Tom Hardy? Do you buy it? Let us know in the comments down below!

STAR WARS EPISODE VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
