RUMOR: Emma Stone Passed On Wonder Woman 2 Villain Role

Ever since the idea of a Wonder Woman movie was first floated, a lot of fans wondered if the character Cheetah would, in fact, be introduced. Obviously, the first film came and went, and while the movie was a cultural phenomenon back in 2017, Cheetah was still nowhere to be found.

Once that film hit, she was instantly catapulted to the top of the “most wanted villains” list by many fans — though how they’d be able to believably execute it is beyond me. Be careful what you wish for, because according to That Hashtag Show, that’s exactly who they have in the polished script of Wonder Woman 2 from Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham.

Cheetah is a mantle that’s been held by numerous women, but the one they’re utilizing in this 1980s-set script is Barbara Ann Minverva, a British archaeologist and rich heiress. During an expedition while searching for city of Urzkartagan. One thing leads to another, and she ends up stumbling into the city during a ritual, which leads to her ending up as Cheetah.

Not only does Warner Bros. intend to utilize Cheetah, but they’ve even approached Emma Stone for the role. Sadly, it sounds like the actress has passed on the role. That is a bit disappointing, but given Stone’s history with comic book films, perhaps she’s a bit unsure about hopping onto another, especially since she’s such a critical darling right now.
