What is actually going on with the Alien franchise right now? After the lukewarm reception to Alien: Covenant, the franchise seems to have been put on hold once again as it reshapes and re-imagines what should come next. Ridley Scott seems to have moved onto other projects and Neil Blomkamp’s proposed sequel seems as dead as a human post Facehugger attachment.
We also have the impending (fingers crossed) merger between Fox and Disney, which could also shake up any plans for the Alien franchise. I have my own ideas for where this series has gone wrong over the years and how to fix it, but there is no room to get fully into that here, we’ll get to that in another article.

We do now have an interesting rumor coming from Omega Underground about the Alien franchise. The outlet claims to have heard from reliable sources that Fox is planning on a TV show set within the Alien universe. Now, even if true this could be a number of different ideas, which would not necessarily feature the famous Xenomorph aliens. It could be a show about a colony planet, or colonial marines, or even the Weyland-Yutani mega-company?
The outlet also says they don’t know where this could pop up, Hulu, Network TV etc? I would like to think this would be something a little dark in tone given its roots. Take this news with the usual pinch of salt folks, until we hear anything more concrete.
