RUMOR: Jeremy Renner’s Days As Hawkeye Are Limited Or Over

Welp, he had a good run. While a lot of people in fandom seem to like poking fun as Hawkeye as a character, I’ve really enjoyed what Jeremy Renner has brought to the character since he was first introduced in Thor. In spite of his constant-seemingly-impending death, Marvel has managed to keep him around, making for a much more interesting story, in my opinion.

I normally like to keep the celebrity gossip here on the site to a minimum, and only when relevant to the content we enjoy to watch, so I knew it was only a matter of time until we discussed the People report where his ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco, accused Renner of threatening to kill her. More specifically, their former nanny stated:

“In one particular conversation, Ms. Moore heard [Renner] state he was going to go to [Pacheco’s] house and kill her and then kill himself, and that it was better that Ava had no parents than to have [Pacheco] as a mother.”

Another incident (via TMZ) reported saw Renner put a gun in his mouth, threatening to kill himself, and then firing a gun into the ceiling while their daughter was asleep in her bedroom. Documents from the outlet also state that Renner left coke on a bathroom counter reachable by his daughter.

Renner has since spoken out, denying these rumors and accusing Pacheco of making up the allegations for a cash grab. Of course, we don’t know the true story yet, and all of this is hearsay.

All of this is an elaborate way of saying that Renner’s personal life is clearly one that a company like Disney may want to distance themselves with, and with the Disney+ series Hawkeye on the way, it seems they are at a crossroads. YouTuber Grace Randolph has since taken to Twitter and claim:

“I’m hearing Jeremy Renner’s days as #Hawkeye are pretty much over – he’ll either be recast, the role severely reduced or cut all together from #DisneyPlus show.”

From the sound of it, nothing is set in stone, but it would make sense if Disney went this route given all the above drama, as sad as it would be. As we know, Hailee Steinfeld will be taking on the role of Kate Bishop, who will be taking on the name of Hawkeye down the line, but would it be smart of Disney to allow Renner to actually reprise his role going forward?

Your guess is as good as mine, but what do you make of all this? Let us know down below!
