RUMOR: Mark Ruffalo Will Return As Hulk In She-Hulk — Thank God!

For weeks, our own Cam Clark has discussed at length about why he wants to see Mark Ruffalo in the She-Hulk Disney+ series. He has likely spilled anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 words worth of ink on the subject, going so far as to give us a look at his ideal She-Hulk. His hopes are extensive and ambitious, with the She-Hulk series even possibly having long-lasting MCU ramifications as a result. While we can’t say whether or not any of that is the case, we can say there is a rumor of one key aspect being locked down.

According to The Illuminerdi, Mark Ruffalo will be returning in Disney+’s She-Hulk as the incomparable Bruce Banner. But how big would his role be? Sadly, there is no word on whether or not it’ll be just for a single episode or a sizable role in the show. This is to be expected at this stage, but I’m sure we’ll hear a lot more as time goes on.

I’m more interested to see how he will play into the story. More importantly…will he actually still be Smart Hulk? Last we saw Bruce Banner, he had mastered his relationship with the green guy. The result was a fusion of his brains and brawns. Unless he’s gone through some off-screen shenanigans, Disney will be spending a lot of money. This money will be used to make sure Hulk looks as good as he does in Avengers: Endgame. This is a tall order for a series, streaming or not.

For that reason, I expect that Bruce will either relapse in his control of the Hulk or his part in the series will be limited. As much as I hate to say it, I think the former is the most likely option. The upside is that it means we’ll see more of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, but the downside is that we run the risk of retreading old ground. Hopefully, Marvel Studios has learned enough not to make that mistake.

All in all, this is an exciting rumor. As with all rumors, you need to walk in with your skeptical goggles, but The Illuminerdi has built a pretty solid reputation over the past few months. Add to that their steadfast confidence that this is a legit “confirmation,” and it’s hard not to feel at least a little bit confident over what’s being reported.

What do you think of this rumor? Is it a smart move from Disney? Let us know your thoughts down below!
