If there’s one project that’s had enough drama to warrant a feature-length documentary, it’s the upcoming DC movie The Batman. This is a project that started out in the very capable hands of Ben Affleck, before Affleck decided to step away, reportedly unable to make a story that he was fully confident in.
At this point, the film has scooted over to War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves, and while we have no idea whether or not Affleck will even star in it, it seems to be making okay progress based on the buzz we’ve heard. Now, TheWrap writer Umberto Gonzalez recently took to Twitter to give yet another update about the Caped Crusader film.
In a tweet, Gonzalez there is still no script for the film, and he says there won’t be one until after Labor Day, which is on September 3, 2018. He then went on to say that the film will likely go into preproduction in June of next year, or maybe later, depending on how things go. It’s worth noting that this contradicts earlier reports from a Production Weekly listing.
One other tidbit is that the film will supposedly shoot after Birds of Prey and The Flash (Flashpoint?).

Not bad. After a solid couple years of DC’s slate slowly seeming to disintegrate away, we kind of have a good idea of what to expect over the next few years:
– Aquaman
– Shazam
– Wonder Woman 1984
– Birds of Prey
– The Flash
– The Batman
Not a bad lineup of movies, but I hope they don’t rush these films out the door just to make a schedule. We’ve seen how that goes in the past, and it ain’t pretty.
But one last thing I think is worth mentioning is that it should be taken with a grain of salt. Gonzalez is someone who has proven himself reliable, but I think it says something that this ended up on his Twitter account and not on TheWrap. His source may be on the money here, but it’s possible that he’s not confident enough in Warner Bros. moving forward to actually put this into print. Then again, maybe he’ll actually write something up later today or tomorrow. I just figured it was worth mentioning.
What do you think of this update? Do you think they’ll make a late-2019 shoot date for The Batman? Let us know down below!
