What’s in a runtime? That seems to be one of the big questions as of late. It helps give fans an idea of the film’s pacing, the general structure, and how much content to expect. This has been especially true with the recent DC Extended Universe films. BATMAN v SUPERMAN clocked in at around 150 minutes, and that still left a lot to be desired to some fans. Those same fans are hoping for some redemption in the 180-minute cut.

It’s been a big question of what all this means for their next film, SUICIDE SQUAD. Since this picture has more than a handful of villains in it, can we also expect an inflated runtime to help flesh out their motivations? After all, BvS only had a few characters in it by comparison, and that film was fairly long. Well, if this latest rumor is true from Collider, it doesn’t sound like we can expect the same long runtime.

According to the outlet’s sources, the runtime for SUICIDE SQUAD is 130 minutes, or 2 hours and 10 minutes. This is substantially shorter than both cuts of BATMAN v SUPERMAN, but no so short that one should worry about the characters getting shortchanged. All in all, this makes sense. One would expect the runtime to exceed two hours. After all, as mentioned above, this one has its fair share of characters to juggle. However, based on the trailers we’ve seen so far, it also looks to be a film with fairly fast pacing, and neck-breaking action.

Now how reliable is this rumor? Collider has a pretty solid track record for stuff like this, and all in all, they’re not really known for their scoops. As such, one can expect them to be pretty accurate when they do break a story. In addition to the track record, David Ayer confirmed via Twitter that SUICIDE SQUAD was completely finished.

With the picture completely locked, we know for a fact that there won’t be any changes in the length of the flick. This adds an extra layer of credibility to this rumor. Personally, I’d say it’s a safe bet that 130 minutes will indeed be the runtime for SUICIDE SQUAD once the picture this theaters.

“It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?”

What do you think of this rumor? Is 130 minutes a good runtime? Let us know in the comments down below!
