RUMOR: Which Actors Are Up For Cable And Domino In DEADPOOL 2?

While fans of the Deadpool character may have been looking forward to the DEADPOOL movie that came out earlier this year, not even the most hardcore of hardcore fans could have predicted what a runaway success the R-rated superhero comedy would be. It’d be easy to dismiss the success of the film and give credit to the immature humor prevalent throughout the film — it was certainly a breath of fresh air for the genre, to be sure. However, one of the strongest points of the film was how well it treated its characters. Sure, they were stupid and immature on many levels, but they gave the film just enough depth so that viewers weren’t left with a hollow feeling inside after watching.

Let’s hope that with DEADPOOL 2, the writers remember that it’s that they have to put the characters first, and one of the most important steps there, of course, is the casting. We’ve known for some time that Fox was in search of who would play Cable — the straight man in the Deadpool-Cable dynamic. Also up to star in the film is the mercenary Domino.

So who’s up to playing these two? Well, there is no solid evidence to back this up just yet, but in a recent episode of MEET THE MOVIE PRESS, Mashable reporter Jeff Sneider stated the top rumored pick for Cable right now is Kyle Chandler:

“People were talking about Cable from DEADPOOL 2. There’s been a name floating around for Cable for months, hasn’t changed, don’t know if it’s changed. Didn’t make any calls about this. This was just the name that has been out there for months. So take this with a gigantic grain of salt. The biggest grain of salt your tiny little brain can imagine. The name that is floating around for Cable right now is Kyle Chandler.”

Folks who don’t recognize the name likely recognize him from such films as SUPER 8, KING KONG, WOLF OF WALL STREET, and most recently, CAROL. While he’s a bit younger than I would expect for the role, if they expect the actor to spend the next ten-plus years playing Cable, then it would make sense that they’d go for someone like Chandler over an older actor like, say, Stephen Lang. He certainly has the physical look for it, and all we’d need is gray his hair, throw some extra gruff and scar on his face, and boom! I, for one, and hopeful that nothing has changed since Sneider heard this news and that Chandler does end up in the role, as he is a talented actor who, surprisingly enough, hasn’t made his way into the superhero genre just yet. It’s about time he did.

Now, of course, comes the other big casting rumor: Domino. Here’s what Sneider had to say:

“The name for Domino, who is said to be the scene-stealer of the movie, is Mackenzie Davis.”

Like with Chandler, you may not recognize her name, but you’ve more than likely seen her in some pretty high profile flicks including ZERO DARK THIRTY, THE MARTIAN, ARGO, and THE WOLF OF WALL STREET. If you compare Domino’s look to Davis, there’s definitely a look that could carry over quite nicely to the flick, and with her upcoming appearance in BLADE RUNNER 2, she’s set to blow up any moment now. Without a doubt, she’d be a great get for the studio.

What do you think of these rumored cast members? Do they fit the profile for the likes of Cable and Domino, respectively? Let us know your thoughts down below!

DEADPOOL 2 hits theaters on January 12, 2018.
