In a now deleted series of Twitter posts, game insider AccountNGT shared some rumored details on Star Wars: Eclipse, an upcoming game from Quantic Dream. Quantic are famous for making linear, interactive movie type games as opposed to action games.
However the main take away here is that the insider claims things will be different for Eclipse. Apparently Eclipse will feature traditional action gameplay likened to that of Jedi: Fallen Order. They also say this is a particularly ambitious and non-linear story being developed. Additionally that this is a story which as yet is incomplete. The way the game mixes story and gameplay has been likened to that of The Last of Us.
Additional notes features items such as a competitive multiplayer, multiple playable characters, and as said above, a non-linear story. This would be quite the surprise for Quantic Dream. However another post also claims that the developer needs more staff badly to make this game. Currently it seems Quantic cannot seem to hire new staff quickly enough. The game also has only been in development since early 2021 according to the insider. In game terms, that’s very early stages.

What this means therefore is that many of these details could change within development of the game. Perhaps some of the ambitions will be too loft and downgraded for simplicity. Game design is a tough art to get right, like all other forms of creative entertainment. At times people go in with the best intentions and the end product can end up being something far poorer, or, something even better than originally planned. That’s how it goes and if the game development is as fresh as is claimed here then it’ll be a while before we see much more of the game.
The posts were only deleted this morning, (in fact the whole account disappeared weirdly)as I was on the Twitter thread myself reading comments less than an hour before writing up this article. Whether that means the insider began to doubt there information or was asked to remove it by the game devs, is a question I cannot answer for now?
