Rumored Fantastic Four Director Is Matt Shakman | Barside Buzz

The writers have been revealed for the Fantastic Four movie and it's Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. What do you think of this news?

According to the folks over at The Direct, the rumored Fantastic Four director is Matt Shakman, whom you may remember from such Marvel Studios projects as WandaVision. We’ve known the hunt was on for a new director of Fantastic Four since previous helmer Jon Watts pulled out due to workload. Watts of course is also showrunning the new Star Wars series Skeleton Crew and is expected to return for a Spider-Man 4. Here is what the outlet had to say.

According to The Direct’s sources, WandaVision director Matt Shakman is signed on to direct Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four, hitting theaters on November 8, 2024.

Pretty straightforward and until something is made official this will stay as a rumor. However it seems highly likely if this deal has closed that Shakman will be announced at D23 this September.

To be completely honest this is not the first time I have heard about Shakman. There were previous reports that Shakman was the front runner for this gig. Sadly no one of the leakers would come out and make an actual statement we could cover. It was all hints and nudges that fans added up to get to Matt Shakman.

Shakman has huge experience as a director, working on shows like Game of Thrones, House, Fargo, The Boys, and more. Shakman has also been announced as the director of the next Star Trek sequel which will bring back the Kelvin Timeline crew. I guess my question would be, how is Shakman going to make Star Trek 4 and Fantastic Four around roughly the same time frame? Star Trek 4 is due to hit theaters in December of next year. Fantastic Four was announced as releasing on November 8, 2024. In my mind that leaves quite a small window between projects. But I’m hardly an expert when it comes to filming schedules.

What do you think of this news that the rumored Fantastic Four director is Matt Shakman? As always, leave any thoughts below.
