In today’s Barside Buzz we have some rumors around who replaces Kathleen Kennedy when she retires from Lucasfilm. Of course that has not happened yet. However, all the trades are now reporting sources that say Kennedy has made it clear internally she’s off by the end of the year.
Jeff Sneider has some Buzz for us on his latest The Insneider Newsletter.
Sneider believes that Carrie Beck is in the running and if he says yes, could be paired alongside Dave Filoni. He also says Lynwen Brennan is not in the running currently. He also says he does not expect Bob Iger and Alan Bergman to hire another producer with the level of credits Kennedy had to run Lucasfilm.
As for Kennedy, Sneider says she was initially due to step down at the end of 2024. However, an AI focused production company she was setting up failed to get sufficient funding. This is why she stuck around for another year. He also says Kennedy will remain as a producer even after her retirement on some films she’s ushered in. Additionally, Sneider says he’s heard neither Jon Favreau, nor Kevin Feige are interested in the job. He’s also heard Ram Bergman described as the most qualified producer for the job.

Finally, Sneider says he expects Kennedy’s retirement to coincide with mass layoffs at ILM. Sneider has heard that it was Kennedy who was protecting those jobs thus far.
so, that’s the current Barside Buzz around who replaces Kathleen Kennedy when she retires from Lucasfilm, for now. Sneider has an excellent hit rate for Star Wars and has broken many Star Wars related scoops before trades over the last year or two, so take this rumor as you will.
