Russell Crowe Cast In Sony's Kraven The Hunter

In a rather surprising piece of news THR reports Russell Crowe cast in Sony’s Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. This is rather surprising to most fans because Crowe is already playing Zeus within Thor: Love and Thunder. Yes, we know the SSMU and the MCU are different Universes. However at the same time it’s still a surprise to a lot of fans to see the same actor in two movies which won’t hit far apart.

The Oscar winner will star alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who last year signed a multipicture deal to play the titular antihero, with the first film slated for a Jan. 13, 2023, release. Story details, including Crowe’s role, are being kept in a cage, but many of the main characters are said to be Kraven’s family members.

The rumor I have been hearing since this story broke yesterday is that Crowe may be playing the father of Kraven in the movie. I just picked that up from some online discussion, so I’m not sure whether this rumor is really just pure speculation. As you can say the role remains unknown in THR’s coverage.

As you can also see from THR’s coverage Kraven the Hunter is scheduled for Jan 13th, 2023. I have to say, January is always considered the dead month for movies. Does this therefore show a lack of confidence on Sony’s part?

The best thing Sony could do with their SSMU is to bring in their own Spider-Man. Why not get Garfield to play that role now he’s popular again among fans? The quality won’t be MCU level, it is Sony after all. However at least all these Spider-Man characters will finally have an actual Spider-Man to interact with.
