It’s time to rejoice, Black Panther fans, because writer and director Ryan Coogler is returning for a second outing for one of Marvel’s most successful standalone superheroes to date.
According to a new report from Variety, Coogler will be writing and directing Black Panther 2. Furthermore, actor Chadwick Boseman, and everyone else in the ensemble cast is expected to return to help round out the cast of Wakandans. Sadly, this announcement did not come with a release date or any plot details, but given how fresh this news is, it’s to be expected.

Earlier this year, Black Panther hit theaters, and while Marvel Studios had expected a huge hit, they could not have predicted the numbers they pulled. Despite seeing Black Panther bite the dust in Avengers: Infinity War, we all knew he’d be coming back for another outing — no way Marvel was letting this burgeoning new franchise die off without a fight, even if they continue to try to convince us the film could take place before Avengers: Infinity War.
