Out of any surprise cameo appearance in Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, it was Wesley Snipes’ return as Blade had MCU fans buzzing as much as Chris Evans as Johnny Storm. Kicking off Marvel’s success on the big screen with the 1998 movie directed by Stephen Norrington, Snipes’ Deadpool cameo was an appropriate acknowledgment of how Blade carved the path for future Marvel film adaptations. Now, Ryan Reynolds feels Snipes is due for the perfect sendoff.
On Twitter X, the Deadpool & Wolverine star celebrated Snipes by launching a social media campaign calling for MCU fans to push Marvel Studios for a Logan-style finale project for Snipes’ Blade:
‘There is no Fox Marvel Universe or MCU without Blade first creating a market. He’s Marvel Daddy. Please retweet for a Logan-like send off.’ #DeadpoolAndWolverine
Reynolds ringing endorsement of Snipes hushed all discussion about personal tension between the two stars. In 2004, Snipes worked with Reynolds on Blade: Trinity where the future Merc with the Mouth actor played Nightstalker leader Hannibal King. The threequel was notorious for production troubles on set such as Snipes’ refusal to interact with his co-stars, including Reynolds. Additionally, Snipes alleged that his screen time was reduced in order to pump up the much younger Reynolds and Jessica Biel as the Nightstalkers.
Snipes recently downplayed the rumors of a feud with Reynolds in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
“It was a call. It started with a text from Ryan Reynolds, and I saw a text that says, you know, ‘I want to talk to you.’ I was like, ‘I hate this guy.’ That’s a joke. We’ve been playing this for, like, two decades. We’ve actually liked each other the whole time!”

Snipes has been open about a Blade return in the years leading up to Deadpool & Wolverine‘s production. While it is unknown if Snipes will make additional MCU appearances in the future, the plans for the official Marvel Studios-produced Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali continue to be a fluid situation. The movie has undergone two director changes and a revolving door of screenwriters. Most recently, Logan’s Michael Green is the latest to be attached to pen the script. Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige has defended the delays as part of a new quality over quantity approach with their upcoming slate. However, Snipes has been not so subtle on social media about canceling Ali’s reboot in favor of the very idea Reynolds is pushing for.
