For the longest time, Deadpool 2 has had a release date of June 1, 2018. However, on Thursday, it was revealed that the film would get pushed UP an extra couple weeks, and ultimately be released on May 18, 2018.

While this does put Deadpool 2 in the thick of some pretty big releases, we think many fans will be plenty excited by the prospect of seeing the sequel a little bit early. That never hurts, right?

Of course, star of the film Ryan Reynolds would not stay quiet about this for long. He took to Twitter to show off a new image of him holding a pair of katanas in celebration of this new release date.

The official synopsis for Deadpool 2 is below:

“After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.”

    If this was a DC film:

    3 people from. WB legal would be sending a blizzard of e-mails to make sure that the use of “Bea Arthur” had been cleared through legal.

    They would be getting an on set visit from the OTHER end of the marketing team to remind them that Target amd Wal Mart wouldn’t accept this synopsis.

    All this would be happening while YET anoher marketing team would be all but halting production until the data from the focus groups came back.

    So much of the goodwill I had towards the first Deadpool movie, and now this one, is Ryan Reynold’s contagious enthusiasm and unabashed geek-love for this character. Rarely, it seems, Hollywood types convey this level of sincerity and genuine childlike glee for the work they do.

    Keep up the love, RR, and this clown’s ass will be in the theater!

    The marketing for the films has been amazing, just as enjoyable as the films themselves. First time I’ve ever wanted to see promotional material on Blu-Ray releases. The Valentine’s day banner for the first film is my favorite.
