Have you ever wanted to ask a digital version of Samuel L. Jackson what the weather is expected to be like? Yeah, I haven’t either, until now. Yesterday, Amazon announced that the actor will provide his voice for the company’s Alea device, and the answer to the big question is yes, there will be an explicit as well as a family-friendly type version.
I understand why Amazon offers a clean version, but hearing Sam Jackson’s voice drop expletives through your Alexa device is really the only way to go, I mean, that’s the appeal, right? A clean-mouthed Sam Jackson is like playing an electric guitar without an amp, it just isn’t right. Below you can read an excerpt from Amazon’s blog post.
“[Samuel L. Jackson] can tell you jokes, let you know if it’s raining, set timers and alarms, play music and more – all with a bit of his own personality. The company plans two versions of his voice — “explicit and non-explicit.”

The company says the voices of more celebrities are on their way, no no one specific was mentioned. Morgan Freeman is a given, assuming he wants to do it. I would also like to suggest Larry David, Christopher Walken, and just for gits and shiggles, how about Gilbert Godfried and Fran Drescher?
Until the time more big names sign up to lend their voices to Amazon’s Alexa, we can all enjoy the might fine verbal stylings of one of the greatest actors of all-time.
