Sarah Jessica Parker Doesn’t Remember Much About Hocus Pocus

It’s Halloween, so it’s worth bringing up Hocus Pocus at least once, right? This is the family Halloween classic that follows a kid who inadvertently wakes up a trio of witches after centuries of them being dead. What follows is a fun little adventure with the kids trying to stop the witches before the…take over the town, I guess? The world stakes really aren’t given to us.

The film starred Sarah Jessica Parker as Sarah Sanderson, one of the three witches who would lure kids to have the souls sucked out of them. She would sing a beautiful song on her broomstick and the kids would flock to her like sheep. The movie looked like a lot of fun and since gone on to garner a cult following, but it sounds like Parker doesn’t remember a whole lot about the movie, as she revealed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert:

“I don’t have a lot of memories. I remember the filming of it. I just don’t remember what the movie’s about as much. Three witches, I’ve been told that, and apparently my character’s not very bright. But I fly and sing and I think I like to suck the life… I think I like to kill children? I don’t know. But I liked making the movie and I love flying.”

I’m sure many of you are thinking the same thing — that Parker was too drink or drug-addled to remember anything, but no, it sounds like she genuinely only saw the film once and, in spite of the great on-set memories, never really committed much to memory. Shame on you, Sarah Jessica Parker! But given how many projects you’ve done, it’s bound to happen.
