Saul Abraham Addresses Mental Health Story in Enjoy | Tribeca 2021 [Exclusive Interview]

With everyone experiencing the worldwide pandemic together, director Saul Abraham felt it was a good time to create a short film about mental health amongst men in his short film Enjoy.

The film explores the issues of masculinity, men’s mental health, and how societal stereotypes surrounding depression in men manifest themselves across different generations.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Progressive muscle relaxation, Lycra, spoken word. As Michael seeks novel ways to halt his spiraling depression, a moment of hope arrives via an unexpected source.

The short film stars Himesh Patel (Yesterday, Tenet), and Maddy Hill (Eastenders, Casualty). Saul Abraham directed the short film that was written by Callum Cameron. Other cast members are Sara Stewart, Jonathan Aris, Matt Devitt, and Tom Sweet.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with director Saul Abraham on this short film. We talked about the issue of depression amongst men and on how it is perceived differently between persons. Also, we talked about his cast and his future projects.

Saul Abraham is a half-Finnish, half-British director, who works in dramas, documentaries, and commercials. He co-directed Breaking with Josh Feder that starred Antonia Thomas and Martin McCann. That film screened at the London Short Film Festival and received a Special Jury Mention at Promofest. His documentary Moses: Strongman was one of the most watched pieces from Idris Elba’s BBC iPlayer takeover, which led him to be mentioned on the BBC new Talent Hotlist.

The short film Enjoy made its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival 2021. Also, it will be screening at the Palm Springs International ShortFest from June 22-June 28.
