Santa Barbara International Film Festival returns with its opening night film Miranda’s Victim.
This star-studded event launches the 11-day festivities that feature tributes to some of the best actors, directors, writers, and producers of the past year.
The film Miranda’s Victim is based on the true story of a young girl victimized and raped by a criminal who received notoriety for Miranda’s Rights while she disappeared into obscurity.
This premiere was attended by director Michelle Danner and the cast, including Abigail Breslin, Mireille Enos, Emily VanCamp, Josh Bowman, Luke Wilson, Ryan Phillippe, Enrique Muricano, and Andy Garcia.
Here is the official description of the film:
It’s 1963 when eighteen-year-old Patricia “Trish” Weir is kidnapped and brutally raped at knife-point. Committed to putting Ernesto Miranda in prison, Trish’s life is destroyed by America’s legal system as she triggers a law that transforms the nation.
