Quantumania Director Explains Marvel Hand Off Between Movies And How We Get To The Kang Dynasty

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer Jeff Loveness is not yet sure if he'll get to use the Fantastic Four or Blade

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed explains how the hand off between Marvel movies works. Reed also explains how writer Jeff Loveness will get us from Quantumania to The Kang Dynasty. Speaking with ComicBook, Reed says that the big grand plan is a bit more of a relay race in reality.

“That’s always a fun thing in the Marvel movies. People talk about, ‘How does it work? They’re all connected. Is there some grand plan?'” Reed told ComicBook. “There’s maybe a rough temporary skeleton of a plan, but basically what happens is you do what’s best for your movie, and the people that come after have to figure it out after that. We inherit certain things.”

“You have to run with it,” Reed said of the hand offs between creative teams. “You would just inherit these things, and that’s kind of fun.”

However as Reed explains there is some connective tissue already between the start of Phase 5, i.e. Quantumania, and the beginning of the end of this saga, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Writer Jeff Loveness is also on scripting duties for The Kang Dynasty which will be directed by Shang-Chi helmer Destin Daniel Cretton.

“We had so much fun because he’s hilarious. As a comedic writer, amazing. But he’s also steeped in history, and religion, and mythology, and he really helped Jonathan and myself find the voice of Kang.”

“He’s the guy who knows all the Marvel Comics lore and builds on it,” Reed said. “He has a great quality in a writer, which [is] he’s psyched to go write. ‘I can’t wait to get behind the computer and do it!’ You know, for a director, that’s the best quality a writer can have.”

Well, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the beginning of Phase 5. Whilst The Kang Dynasty is not the end, it’s certainly the beginning of the end for this Multiverse Saga. So let’s see how it goes I guess?

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed explains how the hand off between Marvel movies works, and it’s less planned out than you’d imagine. What do you think of Reed’s comments? As always, leave any thoughts below.
