ScarJo Confirms Black Widow Is Definitely Dead But She Is Excited About The Black Widow Movie

There are a few fans out there who seem to think that Marvel plans to resurrect Black Widow in some way or set the scene for a later resurrection in her upcoming Black Widow movie. I’ve heard theories that there are multiple clones of Natasha Romanoff, or that her blood will be kept for this purpose somehow in the upcoming movie.

I guess there are fans who simply refuse to believe that Black Widow and Tony Stark are really dead after the events of Avengers: Endgame. To me, it’s far more likely that Nat will come across someone like her but younger and inspire this new Black Widow to carry on and maybe even join with the Avengers herself. So I am not getting where the theories come from that no one will ever really die in the MCU?

According to Scarlett Johansson herself, Natasha Romanoff is really dead in the current timeline, but of course, we know Black Widow is set before this, before the events of Infinity War when she was thrust into a war with Thanos that ultimately claimed her life. The actress appeared last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, you can catch the full interview above, but here are the key points she made about her current status and the Black Widow movie.

“I can’t wait to share it with everybody. [Black Widow] It was fantastic. I mean, I’m partial, but I’m pretty excited about. Honestly, it brought a closure to me that I needed. Yeah, cause I was kind of wiped out in that last one, emotionally and literally. There’s very few certain things, but definitely death’s pretty certain, right? Yeah, definitely, for sure. But, people, they definitely don’t believe it and have tried to convince me that my character did not actually die, but that maybe my character exists in an alternate universe, but no, I think death is the final thing.”

In all honesty, I’d be rolling my eyes if the MCU used some sort of doohickey to bring back Natasha Romanoff, one of the things that makes Endgame such a good movie is that the stakes are real, Hulk even tried to bring back Nat using the power of the Infinity Stones and failed. Her sacrifice though, helped Hulk bring back everyone else, and ultimately that was worth the sacrifice to her and her friends. Equally, it would be so wrong at this point to bring back RDJ as Tony Stark, that story is over and again like Widow, Tony sacrificed himself to save everyone, for that one in 14 million + chance to actually defeat Thanos.

No, I think we have to be pretty confident that if Black Widow is going to continue, it’s going to be someone Nat comes across in the past and sets on a new path. I honestly feel like Black Widow will be ScarJo’s final appearance in the MCU, outside of perhaps some voice work on the What If? animated series.

What do you think of Johannsson’s comments, are you convinced or do you still think Tony and Nat will be back from the dead within a couple of years?
