After the Kung Fu Panda series, director Jennifer Yuh Nelson was already named one of the top female directors in Hollywood.
Nelson will be making her live-action feature film debut with The Darkest Minds, the film that is based on the young adult by Alexandra Bracken.
The film is about the government run by adults fearing the new young generation, who managed to adapt powers of their own. A group of teens form a resistant group that will need to fight back to control their future.
The film stars Amandla Stenberg, Mandy Moore, Bradley Whitford and Gwendoline Christie.
LRM had an exclusive sit-down interview with director Jennifer Yuh Nelson at San Diego Comic-Con International last week. We talked about Comic-Con, her adjustment to live-action directing and the attraction of The Darkest Minds.
The Darkest Minds will be in theaters nationwide on August 3.
