Some selected Spider-Man movies are coming to Disney+ today in the US. Disney+ yesterday announced that five Spider-Man movies were coming to Disney + starting today, plus the Venom movie as well. Check it out.

That’s Spider-Man 1-3, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. I assume that TASM2, Far From Home and No Way Home are still licenced elsewhere. However, I’d also bet those three movies are eventually going to find their way onto Disney+. With Sony continuing to work with Disney going forward on more Spider-Man movies it makes sense for both companies, as long as Sony are being paid for it.
This announcement is not for all territories though. There are separate licensing agreements with Sony across various services in different territories . For example, none of these movies appear on Disney+ in the U.K. and yet we do have Spider-Man: Far From Home which does not seem to be on the service in the US.

Personally I would not watch that movie if it was on my version of the service, but that’s just me. Choice is a great thing. As for the Spider-Man movies I can’t see me ever watching the Raimi trilogy or the Garfield movies again. I was not a fan first time around. I would however love to watch all the MCU Spider-Man movies on Disney+ when the mood hits.
Sony hasn’t got their own streaming service and probably never will. Therefore, unless someone else is offering ridiculous money why not license to Disney+. Seems like everybody wins to me.
What do you think as selected Spider-Man movies are coming to Disney+ today in the US? Thoughts below as always.
