In the inhospitable planet of Mars, any shelter will be fought for and taken. Settlers is a western sci-fi film that has a family defending a homestead from others who claim the property as their own.

The film stars Sofia Boutella, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Brooklyn Prince, Nell Tiger Free, and Jonny Lee Miller. Wyatt Rockefeller wrote and directed the movie.

Here’s the official synopsis of Settlers:

On a remote homestead amongst the Martian frontier, a refugee family from Earth clings to hope for a better life. But when strangers appear in the surrounding hills and attempt to run them off, nine-year-old Remmy (Brooklynn Prince) is faced with the desperate reality her mother (Sofia Boutella) and father (Jonny Lee Miller) have tried so hard to keep from her.

Settlers is a slow-burn and beautifully shot sci-fi film that feels like a classic western. Rockefeller made this is feature film directorial debut and entirely shot in the isolated desert area of Vioolsdift in the Northern Cape in South Africa.

The studio released a scene in a clip with Remmy discovering a warning on the window of their home from foreign invaders to leave the property. In utter panic, her mother and father were alarmed by the warning and immediately set to defend Remmy and the property they currently live in.

Settlers will be in select theaters and available On Demand on Friday, July 23.
