Justice League may have yet to actually hit theaters, but fans are already looking to the future, along with DC Films themselves. One film that’s made some real headway recently is Shazam.

The film is set to hit being production early next year with Lights Out director David F. Sandberg at the helm, and very recently, the film has found both their Shazam and Billy Batson in Zachary Levi and Asher Angel, respectively.

It turns out that the pair have actually recently met in real life, and even posed for a photo together at the Justice League world premiere, and we have to say, the transformation doesn’t look half bad. While buying Zachary Levi as a happy-go-lucky superhero, I think Angel very much fits the Billy Batson mold pretty darn well, based on that smile alone (I’m admittedly not familiar with his work on the Disney Channel).

We’re interested to see just how Shazam fits into the DC Extended Universe. Up until this point, the overall tone has been fairly serious and adult-oriented. While Justice League is set to change that, this character brings with him a great deal of comedy, and seeing them approach something more completely comedic will be quite the turn for them, especially with it being one of the next films to hit production.

Shazam hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
