For months now, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg has teased a fun, comic book-accurate interpretation of the character for the big screen. While the DC Extended Universe has had its strengths, some have been more than a little unhappy with the dark, morbid nature of the first couple films as well as the liberties taken with characters Batman and Superman.

Given the darker tone those movies had, would there be room for a goofy one like Shazam!? Turns out that’s a huge yes (as Justice League proved, they’re definitely willing to skew more to the goofy), with the director promising a similar tone to the comics. As such, it should be no surprise that they’re also taking star Zachary Levi’s look very seriously.

In a recent Twitter post, Levi showed off his gorgeous, sensual, jet-black hair for audiences to ogle over. Check it.

While Levi may have the personality of a man 10 years younger, it’s very clear that they went the dye route for his hair — no man could sport such flawless, dark do, let alone a 37-year-old.

It’s just a small peek behind the curtain, but putting his head alongside the character in the comics is enough to convince even someone like me that Zachary Levi was a good (albeit unexpected) choice to play the man-child. Then again, the problem with the DCEU has never been its casting, so…
