Disney will one day rule the world of entertainment… wait, they already do! That doesn’t mean they can’t buy more stuff and increase their armory of entertainment nuclear weapons. Disney already has an in-house video game publishing company with Disney Interactive and the license out some of their properties like Star Wars to companies like Electronic Art. What if Disney decided to purchase a well-known game publisher though?
What if Disney bought Activision Blizzard? Then they would have access to the characters of Overwatch, StarCraft, WarCraft, and more. Nick Licouris, an investor with Gerber Kawasaki Inc., thinks Disney should purchase the game company saying, “ideally for an investor, you want this to happen now.”
Disney has said in the past that it is happy to continue licensing its properties to companies like EA and neither they nor Activision responded to requests for comment from Bloomberg.
I think it would be a good idea for Disney to do this myself. Besides gaining access to characters to do movies or shows on, this could get EA away from beloved properties like Star Wars. Not only are their cool ideas for film and television but can you imagine the theme parks? The Terran Wraith suspended roller-coaster, the Zerg Hivemind Creep Flume Ride, and the Overwatch Capture The Flag 4D Experience!
