In a recent interview sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver comments on why she joined the Star Wars franchise in The Mandalorian and Grogu. Weaver, who has already starred in franchises such as Alien, Ghostbusters, Avatar and even Marvel with The Defenders, spoke to Games Radar recently. Weaver will make her Star Wars debut in the upcoming movie The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Asked why she joined Star Wars, Weaver said it was for Grogu.
“I get to have scenes with a little Grogu which is probably why I did the movie,” Weaver tells GamesRadar+. “And he’s a little badass too. It’s going to be wonderful for people to see what Grogu is up to now because he’s grown up a little bit and is capable of much more than maybe we think just watching the series.”
“I admire [Star Wars], but I don’t sit around wishing I was in another franchise, because I’ve been so lucky to be in some wonderful ones,” Weaver adds. “But at the time, when I was offered it, I was delighted. I’m a great fan of John Favreau. I was already a great fan of The Mandalorian.”
I’m a fan of the series, with all episodes reviewed by us on The Cantina Reviews. Though we were less enthusiastic about Season 3 for sure. One thing we wanted was more development for Grogu. Let’s hope that’s a part of the movie.

Official details on Weaver’s character are under wraps. Though, there are some rumors linked above if you fancy a peek. All Weaver would say is this,
“I play a wonderful character who is, you know, in a position of authority. And I have to send the Mandalorian out on a mission on the Outer Rim where all the bad stuff happens.”
This certainly matches the rumors linked above. I guess we will see when the promotional press period kicks in.
